Exam Regulations
Dear Student. Please take time to read the following exam regulations in preparation for your exams between the 14th & 18th May 2012.
Good Luck!
Supervision
At the beginning of the exam, an invigilator will read out the rules highlighted in bold in section 2 and 3 below.
Two invigilators will be on duty for every exam.
Invigilators will only answer questions on English-language interpretation; not on how to answer the actual questions.
If an exam paper error, or consistent question about interpretation emerges during the exam, an explanation will be announced audibly to all students.
The invigilator will announce the remaining time left to complete the exam at the halfway period; the final half-hour; and the final 15 minutes.
Possessions
All bags and coats to be kept at the front/back of the exam hall.
The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited during the exam. Any mobile phone brought into the exam room must be switched off and kept in the student’s bag for the duration of the exam. Any student found using a mobile phone faces disqualification from the exam .
Any paper(s) (excluding exam booklet and exam paper) found on a student automatically results in their exam being cancelled (even if an argument is made that the paper is non-relevant to the exam).
The only calculators allowed are standard electronic calculators.
The only items allowed on the desk, apart from the exam paper and exam booklet are: pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, calculators. Pencil cases and calculator cases are to be kept in bags, or handed in at the beginning of the exam.
Student’s exam booklets will be randomly searched throughout the exam – this is purely random and does not indicate any suspicion of plagiarism.
Conduct
Talking, or communicating in any way, with other students is strictly prohibited during the exam. If a student wishes to borrow an item (e.g. calculator) from another student, they must make this request through the invigilator. Any student who communicates with another student faces disqualification from the exam . The observation of talking is the prerogative of the invigilator to decide. No request should be made directly to another student.
Students who wish to go to the toilet must do so singly and will be accompanied by an invigilator; if an invigilator is not available they must wait until one is available.
Students may hand in their exam paper at any time, except in the first 30 minutes, and the final 15 minutes of the exam. When an exam paper is handed in, the student is expected to vacate, as soon as possible, the vicinity of the exam room in order to avoid disruption to other students.
